Little Stars: This is a gentle introductory class that includes learning to move to music and developing motor and listening skills in a fun, creative environment.
Pre-Ballet: This beginner class introduces basic ballet technique through fun movement while focusing on coordination skills and self-expression.
Ballet/Tap Fusion: A combination dance class of ballet and tap with a focus on fun! This energetic class will have your dancer learning basic dance and motor skills, musicality and rhythm to reach class goals in creative ways. Classes begin with tap and progresses to ballet each week.
Ballet 1: More advanced stretching and strengthening exercises are given, barre work is introduced with a greater emphasis on vocabulary and French terminology.
Ballet 2 and 3: This is more advanced stretching and strengthening exercises, barre work is continued with a greater emphasis on vocabulary, musicality, balance and coordination, as well as French terminology.
Pointe: This is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill, so prior permission from instructor is required before students begin taking pointe classes. Must be enrolled in Ballet 3 in order to be in Pointe.
Tap: This dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies.
Jazz: Emphasis is on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. Each level of jazz is a continuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.
Girls Hip Hop: Emphasis on popping, locking, and other hip-hop movements that are utilized in only Hip-Hop dance. Must be 13 and older for this class.
Dance Troupe: In order to enroll in this class, you must also be in Jazz 1, 2, or 3 and Ballet 1, 2, or 3 for the Dance Troupe program. We have three different age levels for competition. Petite, Junior, and Senior groups. Age decides what group you are in. Troupe does local dance competitions during the year (a final number has not been decided on). This class also has a strict attendance policy, and you must attend all classes. If you miss 2 or more classes, you will be dropped from the Dance Troupe. Attendance is a MUST. Session I students Only.

New Dance Teacher – Kristen Bruns
The Frankfort Park District would like to introduce and welcome Kristen Bruns as our new Dance Instructor. Ms. Kristen will join Ms. Bella instructing this Fall 2022 for the Frankfort On Pointe Dance Program. She will be teaching Little Stars (3-4 years), Pre-Ballet (4-5 years), Ballet/Tap Fusion (5-6 years), Ballet 1, Tap 1, Jazz 1, Ballet 2, Tap 2, and Jazz 2.
Ms. Kristen received a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Illinois University and comes to the park district with 21 years of experience teaching ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and contemporary styles of dance. She said, “I have always enjoyed working with children and the fun and curiosity they exude. Teaching dance and sharing something I love with children seemed like the right path for me after dancing for much of my childhood.”
Ms. Kristen has lived in Frankfort for 17 years with her husband, four sons and two pugs. “I am so excited to start sharing my love of dance with the children in the Frankfort area. I love being part of this community!” said Kristen.
Frankfort On Pointe Dance Troupe – KAR Kids Artistic Revue
Regional Dance Competition in Chicago, Illinois, Rialto Square Theater, on March 11-13, 2022.
The Frankfort On Pointe Dance Troupe performed at the KAR Dance competition at the Rialto Theater. The group took 6 dances to competition and each dance received a Top First Place Award. The contemporary piece “Everyday Life” ranked 8th overall in their division, and their hip hop dance “Juice” ranked 7th overall. The girls also received special judges’ awards: “Best Costume” for “Everyday Life” and “Electric Energy” for “Get Ready.” Peyton Dobush choreographed the piece “Clean” which was the first ever solo to compete in the program’s history. We are incredibly proud of all of the girls’ hard work and cannot wait to see them compete again next month!
