VIPP: Very Important Park Person
Kick back and relax for a minute as we introduce you to one of our
VIPP’s with a few fast and fun facts!

? You've been in park and rec a LONG time...why'd you stick around
J: I 'm one of those 15% or whatever of people who love their job. I knew it from the first day of work. It's recreation. It's parks. It's open space. It's everything good about a community..

? Why'd you pick 4th of July (a huge park/rec event day) for your wedding date
J: Right out of college I started working at a park district on June 15, 1970.  I was getting married on July 4, 1970. Since 1971, I have had anywhere from 5,000-10,000 people celebrating my anniversary with me...we had already set the date in 1969 not knowing what kind of job I'd have.

? What's your favorite park in Frankfort
J: Commissioners Park...literally the first month or two I was here, Terri Rusin and I walked the highest point at Commissioners and determined where Fort Frankfort would go.  The rest of the park was undeveloped at that time, but look at it now!

? Favorite non-Frankfort places
J: Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado

? Favorite breakfast food
J: French toast!

? Best non-Frankfort community park you've seen
J: Erfert Park in Lansing...it had two lakes and a river going through it. We used to do our fishing derby there. It was a passive park, 25 acres with trails.
