Family Fall Campfire

Start the fall season out with your family and friends.  Enjoy a cool fall evening around a campfire in Commissioners Park.  Roast marshmallows, drink hot apple cider, play field games, enjoy a hayride, dance to music and listen to ghost stories.  Family fun for all!

Thunder Surge Adventure Run

Looking for a challenge?   If you are, join the Frankfort Park District for the 1st annual Thunder Surge and test your strength and durability in an obstacle course around Commissioners Park.  The course will consist of running, jumping, crawling, climbing and much more!!!  Come out and see if you are able to finish!  Awards will be given to the top finisher (male & female) in each age category.  Please note that the Frankfort Park District is not responsible for damage to shoes or clothing, so please dress accordingly.

Halloween Haunting

Wristbands are $10* at the door, and include: Unlimited access to inflatables; fun fair games; haunted hay ride; story time; 1 kid craft; 1 small pumpkin from the patch for the first 150 kids and  1 face painting.

Scarecrow Building Contest

Scarecrow’s Due: October 8

Calling all scout groups, homeowners associations, business members and families…Join the third annual Scarecrow Building Contest and decorate the Founders Community Center for Halloween. The cross sticks will be provided by the Park District and will be available for pick-up starting August 18. All entries are due by October 8. Voting will run from October 10 – 30. Voting will take place at the Founders Community Center office and Facebook.com. Remember to let your creative skills shine and construct some eye catching entries.

Halloween Coloring Contest

Due Date: October 29 by 5:00 pm

Enter the Frankfort Park District’s coloring contest for a chance to win prizes.
Starting October 1, pick up a coloring sheet to bring home and color. Return your finished masterpiece to the Park District with
your name and phone number on the back and you will be entered into our contest. All entries will be displayed at the
Founders Community Center for everyone to enjoy.

Howl-A-Woof

Trick or Treat!!! Bring your dog all dressed up for this costume competition, dog friendly games, bone yard hunt and trick or treating event. Dogs will have the opportunity to “Trick or Treat” around the Bark Park so remember to bring your bags to collect all their goodies. Dogs will also have a change to enter the costume contest and be judged on – Best Overall, Funniest and Scariest. Families and all friendly dogs are welcome at this free, on-leash event. An adult should accompany dog-owners under the age of 12. While you are enjoying this event, please remember to sign up for the Bark Park.

21st Annual Holiday Craft & Vendor Show

Crafty Kids Day  New!

Drop in for some “crafty” kind of fun.  Kids can choose one or both crafts to make while parents get time to shop around the Holiday Craft & Vendor Show.  Crafts to choose from will be “Turkey” themed and “Snowmen” themed.  There will also be fun games, coloring and kid friendly movies playing during the day.  No registration is required.

Fall Wine Tasting

Let the experts at Wine Styles of Frankfort & Shorewood teach you about the many varieties of wine and beer you will taste. There will be 50 different wines to sample and available to purchase that evening. This fee includes wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and a souvenir wine glass. Pre-registration is required. NO REGISTERATION will be taken at the door. Space is limited, please register early. You must be 21 to attend.

Mickey Mouse’s Birthday Celebration

Lunch with Santa

Celebrate the holidays by joining Santa and Frosty the Snowman for lunch.  Each child will have an opportunity to visit with Santa.  After your child has given Santa their “wish list”, enjoy some fun family entertainment.  Each child will receive a goody bag at the event.  Our lunch menu will include a slice of cheese pizza, cookie and a drink.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  All participants must pre-register.  NO TICKETS will be sold at the door.  Space is limited, please register early.

Letters to Santa

Due Date: December 10 by 5:00 pm

Starting November 24, Santa’s mailbox will be displayed at the Founders Community Center. Santa will personally write to each and every child who writes him a letter, provided that all letters are received by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 10. Santa can only send letters to children who include the following: child’s full name, address, city, zip code and of course, their wish list! Parents, please complete checklist when sending the letter. Checklists will be available at the main office or on the park district website.

Holiday Coloring Contest

Due Date: December 17 by 5:00 pm

The Polar Express Storytime Train

RESIDENTS ONLY!

Two forms of residency are required.  A driver’s license and tax bill or utility bill may be used.

ALL ABOARD…The Frankfort Park District would like to invite children and their parents to take this special train ride to the North Pole.  On the way to the “North Pole,” Santa’s elves will be busy making balloon animals while you enjoy listening to the “Polar Express” story.  When we reach the “North Pole”, we will find Santa Claus and bring him back with us on the train to the Tinley Park Train Station.  Enjoy cookies, juice and holiday music on our way home.  A parent or guardian must accompany all children.  Due to the popularity of this event, a maximum of eight tickets per household are available to purchase at time of registration.

Reindeer Games  New!

Dress in your pajamas and slippers and join the Frankfort Park District for an evening of holiday fun and games.  The elves are planning some reindeer games and will hold a candy cane hunt around the Founders Room.  After all the fun and games, join the elves for a reading of some holiday favorites and watching a holiday movie.  A bedtime snack of cookies and juice will be served.

Countdown to 2015

Kids, get ready to put on your party hats; grab your noise makers and countdown to 2015!!!  Celebrate New Year’s Eve with the Frankfort Park District and dancing, party games, a giant inflatable, crafts and ice cream.  There will be a “countdown to 2015” balloon drop at noon to celebrate the New Year!
