Come and learn about the wonders of cruising as we highlight a 10day/9-night Italy & French Riviera cruise aboard Cunard – The Queen Elizabeth.  This trip will begin with a guided tour of Rome where you will visit all of the historic sites. From Rome, you will depart for your cruise where you will stop in the cities of Florence, Monte Carlo – Monaco, Toulon – France, and Barcelona – Spain. Enjoy all the beauty Europe has to offer!   The trip will depart November 12 and return November 21, 2014. The fees range from $2,169 to $2,959. Pricing includes: rates are per person, double occupancy and include 2 nights pre-cruise at a centrally located hotel in Rome, half day city tour of Rome, all transfers and luggage handling, cruise, port charges, government fees, taxes, and transfers to/from ship.  A detailed overview of the cruise will be presented by professional travel agents.   Please note that all prices are subject to change.   Call the Park District office to reserve your spot!

Experience the fun and charm of the quaint Oil Lamp Theater as we sit back, relax and enjoy the comedy, "The Girl in the Freudian Slip". The story follows the events surrounding a New York psychiatrist who has a fashion artist for a wife, a perceptive 17 year old for a daughter, a bachelor author for a friend, a young man patient, and a former female patient.   Homemade cookies and beverage are included at the theater.   Before we head to the theater, we will start our day at Hackney's on Lake (a 70 yr family run restaurant) for lunch, where you will choose between several delicious lunch options. Before the play begins we will have a little time to browse at the very interesting Glenview Coin and Collectible store near the theater.

You will have a fabulous day at the Field Museum visiting their new exhibit called “Wonders of the 1893 World’s Fair”. Luring millions to Chicago in 1893, the World’s Columbian Exposition was a glittering showcase of architecture, culture, technology, and peoples from around the world. Now, 120 years later, the Museum is opening its hidden collections to display incredible artifacts and specimens that will bring to life one of the most spectacular events in the Windy City’s history. Each person will receive an all access pass, which includes admission to all the special exhibits offered at the museum along with the 35 permanent exhibits. Enjoy the day exploring the Field Museum. Lunch is on your own.

Even if you don’t have a green thumb and don’t find yourself in the garden much, this annual show offers something for everyone from the master gardener to those who just love the beauty of flowers! Our trip to the show will provide an opportunity for everyone on their own and at their own pace to wander the show, take in a seminar or two that might be of interest and enjoy lunch on their own at one of the many Navy Pier eateries.

To ensure wonderful energy, we will begin this day of shopping with a delicious breakfast at Mattina’s Café in New Lenox. We will then travel for a day of shopping at the newly opened Outlet Mall in Rosemont. This outlet mall features hundreds of stores from many of the high-end fashion and household retailers.

It is all about fun on the most famous road in America! On this trip we will visit three towns along Route 66. Each community will produce its own events from full-blown festivals to antique and craft sales, art sales, car and motorcycle shows, live entertainment, and plenty of yard, garage, and sidewalk sales along the way, everyone is sure to discover something unique.  Food, snacks and treats will be in abundance, and there are plenty of  historic sites, outstanding free museums and unique mom & pop businesses to help create a nostalgic journey for all to enjoy.   Don’t forget your camera!

Topics include herbs, flowers, vegetables, heirloom plants and perennials.  Learn about attracting birds & butterflies, wildlife control, composting, organic fertilizers and more. There will be demonstrations, children's activities, and speakers.
