EARLY CHILDHOOD REGISTRATION for 2008-09 Registration for ALL ongoing early childhood programs that run from September 2008 through May 2009 will begin in February 2008. Residents may register beginning Monday, February 4, with non-resident registration starting February 11. ALL REGISTRATION takes place at the Founders Center, 140 Oak St., Frankfort. Registration can only be done IN PERSON and is on a space available basis. On-line registration cannot be used. The Founders Center will open on Monday, February 4, at 8:30 and begin taking resident registrations on a first come, first served basis. A $100 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration. $50 will be applied to your September tuition payment. A physical is required for all Early Childhood classes before starting school. Call the Park at 815-469-9400 if you have any questions or would like to visit our program when it is in session. Early Childhood classes are held at the Puent Educational Building, 400 W. Nebraska St., Frankfort. Directors of Educational Services: Mary Stanis and Pam Schultz WEE WORKS This twice weekly program for young children is perfect for those anxious to meet friends. The morning will be filled with play time, arts & crafts, stories, music and snack time. The child must be 2.5 years old by September 1, 2008. Being toilet trained is not mandatory. A physical is required. PLAY SCHOOL This program provides time for young children to learn how to interact with their peers. Fun activities help the children learn to share and listen. Colors, numbers and the alphabet are also introduced. The child must be 3 years old by September 1, 2008, and must be toilet trained. A physical is required. PREP SCHOOL This program is for children who will be 4 years old by September 1, 2008. The curriculum includes age appropriate activities for language arts, math, science, fine motor skills and socialization. Field trips are also taken. A physical is required. STEPPING STONES (KINDER-BRIDGE) This class is for children who will be 5 years old by March 1, 2009. The focus of Stepping Stones will be on the school readiness skills of language arts, math, science and fine motor skills. Emphasis is also placed on improving socialization skills. Fields trips are taken, too, and a physical is required. PRAIRIE CARE: A PARK PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM This partnership between the Park District and Frankfort School District 157-C provides before and after school care for 157-C students in grades K-5. The program is housed in Grand Prairie School for Kindergarten, First and Second Graders and at Chelsea School for Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders. Care is available from 6:30 in the morning until the start of school at each building and again from after school until 6:30 p.m. Half day care is also available on early dismissal days.
