The Frankfort Park District occasionally has openings for part-time/seasonal staff. These positions may include: early childhood staff, after-school program staff, maintenance staff and building supervisory staff. Any current positions that are available are posted below:


Buildings and Grounds Foreperson

Description  • Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, the Foreperson is responsible for supervising full time, part time, and seasonal staff as well as performing a variety of special projects, park maintenance, athletic field maintenance, turf maintenance, facility maintenance, horticulture, forestry, custodial and recreation support activities. The Foreperson is on call nights and weekends as needed.  This is an at-will position.

Qualifications • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in related field with a minimum one (1) year experience in a supervisory role • Must have a valid Driver’s License and a CDL is desirable • Must possess a valid State of Illinois Pesticide Applicator’s License or must have ability to obtain within six (6) months of hiring. • Must possess valid CPSI certification or must have ability to obtain within one (1) year of hiring. • Must be CPR and AED certified within six (6) months of hiring. • Must have strong oral and written communication skills. • Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Employee is responsible for supervising Buildings and Grounds staff by communicating job expectations, coaching duties and responsibilities, performance evaluation, recognition and discipline. • Employee must adhere to the operating philosophies of the District, and adhere to high quality standards. • Employee must organize, prioritize and direct multiple projects, labor and equipment needs. • Employee must demonstrate and support the Park District’s mission statement, vision and core values. • Employee must establish, support and maintain collaborative efforts with internal and external customers and organizations. • Employee must assist in managing overall work plan of park and facility maintenance. • Employee must perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to playground installation, aquatic weed control, pond shoreline renovation, landscape/turf maintenance and installation, athletic field renovation and maintenance, and various facility and site repairs requiring a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general construction. • Employee must be able to operate, or learn how to operate, various types of equipment including dump trucks, snow plows, tractor/loaders, skid steer’s, mowers, and numerous small pieces of equipment and tools. • Employee must maintain grounds through litter pickup, recycling and other activities. • Employee is responsible for monitoring the safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of park property. • Employee must adhere to safety policies and procedures as outlined in the safety manual, and will be responsible for conducting monthly park, playground, facility, and equipment inspections. • Employee is responsible for the operation and preventive maintenance of Park District vehicles, tractors, ground equipment, implements, and tools while ensuring it is performed and documented. • Employee must maintain a pro-active approach to safety and risk management. • Employee must perform all job tasks within the rules and policies of the Frankfort Park District. • Employee must bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to the workplace on a daily basis.

Special Considerations • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. • Ability to move from site to site. • Ability to lift, carry and move heavy weight (>50 lbs.) objects. • Exposure to pesticides, exhaust fumes, chemicals, dust, dirt, insect bites and loud noises. • Occasional weekend work required. • Use of assigned office equipment. • Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods of time. • Subject to confined space entry if needed • Manual dexterity and strength to operate power-operated equipment/machines. • Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.

Classification Non-Exempt
Salary 36,000 - 38,000 DOQ

The Frankfort Park District is currently accepting applications for part-time building supervisors. Must be 18 years of age or older. Evening and weekend hours included.
